Will thou accept it?

A little friend-cum-teammate comes up to me and says -

"How about keeping the campus, a non-smoking zone during the SPECTRUM'10 era...??"
WAah...!! Something we the non-smokers; or should say the anti-smokers were dying for?
Such a lush green beautiful campus of New Vallabh Vidhyanagar and spoilt so badly.... Naah! I do not second that; in any case... :)
So coming back to Miss N (the little friend)'s suggestion -
And none sooner than the young lady puts up her proposal, people are shocked with wide open eyes....
  • "Oh yes.. the suggestion is great. Something must be done about it!"
  • "Ah.. I see.. But you see, that wont be possible. Its difficult to convince the vendors you see."
  • "Arrey waah... We'll surely do something about it.. Let me see.. I will think it over...!!"
  • "mmm... idea toh achchha hai magar feasible nahi hai. Dekho main bhi manta hoon ke yeh karna chahiye.. matlab main mana nahi kar raha, lekin tumhein practical side se bhi sochna chahiyee... Karo.. creatively karo.. lekin zyada expectation mat rakho... Arrey kuch naya idea socho na uske baare mein..."
And finally Miss N comes up with her creative type of furniture:

"Lets do it the other way... jaise ki put up funny posters that say - 10 reasons why u should smoke--- and then play a pun stating reasons like: No girlfriends around; spend extra money on cigarettes and then on mouth fresheners, et al."

So my dear friends, I am all ready to second what Miss N says; and whether the authorities permit or not; we're going to start our little initiative for the same, which may as well come as a surprise during the course of SPECTRUM'10. Will thou accept it?

PS -
And this is for all the members, non-members of SPECTRUM'10, A.D.I.T. and all the readers of this blog; think about it and if not on others, please please please do leave a comment on this blog with your suggestions and creative out of the box thoughts to implement the same. As SPECTRUM'10 tagline states: Imagination Unleashed.
So dear readers, just set yours free and let it flow and give in your thoughts. We(Me, Sherlock and my little friend Miss N) promise to give it a voice.

The actual show managers

Some of them had the complaint for not being mentioned on the blog. Its turn-wise that everyone would be introduced na! Anyways, here's one for you people - - -

Well, their job is relatively feeble right now; and yet a big deal. Indeed. Finally, they're going to be our actual show managers - our beloved event coordinators....!!
A bunch of talented people bubbling with energy, ideas and enthusiasm. Once the events were finalized; everyone was "ON THE MOVE. . ." Bent on preparing everything that surrounded their event; right from requirements to rules to format to innovations to new inclusions to website contents - just everything.....
I remember one of the core committee members PK sitting with them all and arguing upon the format of events; which ones to keep, which not; what to do and what not!
tough job!!
But our coords are innovative enough. Name them; assign them and the next day your works is sure to be done most often!
And there are some multi-taskers sitting out there-

E.g. : Miss J was initially playing with words; thinking of one followed by the other and then the third. She somehow did not seem satisfied with the near to perfect one; she wanted the exact match! She was helping the others out with finalizing name and tagline.

Mr. A is really worried about companies not responding to his E-mails for workshop proposals and so is Miss N. Both of them have spent hours together calling up people, trying to fix up something. No results yet but they're still hopeful. Hats off to their efforts.

Mr. M who keeps people entertained with his HATHODAs; but contributes something useful in some application development. This is the space where such unnoticed funny episodes get captured.

And there are many more. I just came across one; as an operator, surfing through the spectrum10 id for the mail updates. And someone began chatting and I continued. Not as myself; but as SPECTRUM'10 interactive chat module :) [that too designed by our web designers.. lol]
And finally I had a good laugh, when people still took me as the interactive chat module.
Of course, no offence for the one... :)
The process of event planning has turned out great and when the actual show runs; we the SPECTRUM'10 team are sure - you all will make it grand!!
Keep up the good work and let it keep growing......!!
And yes, keep the innovation stuff on; the show must go on; but the show must go on grand!!

After all the efforts...

:)
That's our head Mr. A and his team alongside - taking pains all day long; bent on instructing people move hither and thither; and this is what he says -
  • Go there; meet that faculty;
  • Call that company fellow;
  • Move to baroda right now itself; talk to the sponsors; convince them
  • I want the tagline in next fifteen minutes;
  • hey.. get back to work... I dont want any timepass crowd in this place;
  • You have full independence - go work
  • Come on everybody; gather here for a moment
  • I am going to meet sir and say - this is not going to work sir. It should be the other way round.
  • What do you need? Mention all the resources, including teammates, I'll manage it for you. But at the end of the day, I want the work done.
  • Lage raho Lage raho.....
  • Jao paappe ko puchho... khatam karo.. kuch bhi karo, ulta latko lekin mujhe ek ghante mein output chahiye.
  • I want results; prepare convincing proposals
  • Ayee... ene kai de aa badhu ni chale... hu kaam karte pan aam thyu ne tem thyu ena bahana ni joiye. Kaale sawar ma pelu kaam aa patav..
  • Dekho main kya bolta hu tumhe, matlab yeh mera maanna hai ke tumhe aise karna chahiye.. karna chahiye nai karna padega... seedhi ungli se ghee nai niaklega kabhi.. aage tum socho kaise kaam karna hai... arrey kuch bhi rakh do na yaar.. mere se toh tum achchha hi karoge..
and blah blah blah. . . he moves on keeps talking, at times scolding people, but always motivating them - to work, to get it successful.

And there he is - after the day's work - embarking on the journey to some peaceful moments; some moments, which we dignify as "sleep"; but for him, it seems to be the heaven. . .
Hence,
this post is a dedication to our head Mr. A, from the entire team of SPECTRUM'10 :)

PR Blues. . .

Disclaimer: All the experiences mentioned in this E-mail are real and do hold all resemblance to us the PR team at ADIT. image courtesy: http://google.com. Our googler Ms. B did not find it difficult to find that particular contact reflected in the image. But the rest were a challenge and we still are in search:) The author bears no responsibility for the mental harassment, boredom and sleepiness caused to the readers after reading this post.

Hello Everyone,

Being a PR[Public Relations] Member, let me start with some things that bothered me about rest of the PRs I dealt with in the past couple of days.
Mr. A [Our head], comes up with plans, ideas, flashes of thoughts poured into my brain and the job of expanding, structuring them and implementing them - left to me:)
Starting with a list of chief guests. Call him, Call her; No he can't be called - Z Security! Oh Oh.. Naaa - no politicians allowed; She would be good - great vision you see...and blah blah blah the list goes on and on and on. . .
Now writing invitations to such high-profile people has become a routine for us the PRs. But googling their details out is the biggest issue. Information and profile details are available from everywhere; but E-mail ids? Naaaaah! Imagine this:
You look for an entire google page on some personality; all possible searches relating the same are being made. Look at the figure below:

And finally, after going through some 357 pages, we do not seem to find any E-mail id but all absurd information and little useful. What is so peculiar about these people? I mean you know you're a well-known public figure? What's wrong in keeping an E-mail id for the public and let it be managed by a PR, who can take care of the necessary things. phhheeeeewww...! You can always hire us for the same you see :)

Another thing:

Send an E-mail to so many organizations, companies, people, et al. And you keep waiting for one, two, three, four days just like that. . . . . . . . Tick Tick Tick and the inbox shows no update from their side.
I think we as PRs of SPECTRUM'10 are doing a better job; responding and reverting back to each and every E-mail. If not interested, or the reply is to be left pending for a while, atleast specify that in the response, mentioning your disinterest or the duration of delay. . . !
And anyone reading this blog feels that we can make Good PRs; please brief us about the job details on spectrum10@adit.ac.in
We would willingly join you..:) *
*terms and conditions apply, the decision of which is left to two of our great imaginers - Mr. A and Mr. M
Kindly do not send criticisms of the said post on the above E-mail. You can always put in comments for such non-sense frustration we go through each new day. Suggestions/Opinions/Feedback/Similar Experiences are always and most welcomed.
So that's all for time being. This is PR signing off for today.

SPECTRUM'10

It started with a well-foreseen vision of our Principal sir, Dr. R K Jain, to hold a national level technological event. From time to time, he motivated us, encouraged and together we awaited the moment to come. He had the dream and we had the enthusiasm. When opportunity knocked the doors, here we are; together presenting forth you all: "SPECTRUM'10".
Spectrum'10 - a true spectrum in itself: a mingle of seven hues of the spectrum: Desire, Potential, Attitude, Innovation, Creativity, Effort & Technology.
The entire family of A.D.I.T., together dreams and aspires to leave a mark; an impression of seven shades blending into a single spectrum.
We invite, we welcome you all to come and be a part of SPECTRUM'10 and add to it's Grandeur and Sumptuousness.
